Abstract
The new species <i>Brachypelmides klaasi</i> differs from all the species of the <i>Brachypelma</i> genus by its sharply pointed embolus, its bipartite spermathecae and its fine bearing of plumose setae on femur IV. It is the first representative of a new genus.
