Taxonomic History
- 1922 Monocentropus lambertoni Fage, 1922. Zamani et al. (2025) found it neither congeneric with M. balfouri nor referable to Satyrex, on both its phylogenetic placement and morphology - several paddle setae on coxa II and a pair of outward-curving labiosternal mounds - and treat it as incertae sedis. They further consider it a species complex: strong genetic divergence separates Malagasy populations from Forêt d'Ambre and Montagne des Français, Nosy Hara, Ankarana and the rainforest of Marojejy, so several species, some potentially microendemic, are probably subsumed under this one name. Its placement, and its relationship to the monotypic Malagasy genus Encyocrates Simon, 1892, are deferred to a separate paper.
