Etymology

A noun in apposition from Kichwa, meaning pale and thin, for the species' pale colour and elongate build.

Holotype female of Holothele tsala. Five juveniles from the same cave are listed as non-type material. No coordinates are published for the type locality.

Taxonomic History

  2. Described into a Holothele that still included the Caribbean species. Sherwood et al. (2025) had already moved H. culebrae, H. denticulata, H. maddeni, H. shoemakeri and H. sulfurensis to Caribothele, leaving H. longipes as the only other species in the genus; this paper's composition list still names all five. The two works do not cite each other. Left as published.
