Original Description

Osorio, L. M., Benavides, L., García-Atencia, S. & Bertani, R. (2024). Three new species of tiny tarantulas of the genus Thalerommata Ausserer, 1875 (Araneae, Theraphosidae) from northern Colombia. Zootaxa 5537 (1): 95-114.

Adult males collected

Mean monthly rainfall and temperature 2001–2020 near where these males were collected, Colombia. MERRA-2 via NASA POWER, for a grid cell averaging 1020 m. Wet and dry seasons, from the rainfall at the locality itself.

Etymology

The specific epithet is a noun in apposition and refers to the indigenous people that inhabit the foothills of the Perijá mountain range between Colombia and Venezuela. According to the cosmology of this community, the world was created with the help of a spider.
