Holotype female of Citharognathus hosei, type species of the genus, held at the NHMUK and redescribed by Hoang et al. (2025). Collection date not stated; 1895 is the year of description.

Taxonomic History

Type species of Citharognathus by monotypy. Redescribed by Hoang, Yu, Wendt, West & von Wirth (2025) from the female holotype together with new material from two Sarawak populations; the male is described for the first time in that paper.
