Returned to Haplopelma Simon, 1892, which Smith, Daniel & Vignaud (2026) restore from its synonymy with Cyriopagopus. Having examined von Wirth's work on the relevant types, they conclude that Raven (1985) and Smith & Jacobi (2015) were wrong to treat Melopoeus as a synonym of Haplopelma. The restored Haplopelma holds only this species and H. robustus.
