Taxonomic History
- 1880 Tapinauchenius reduncus Karsch, 1880
- 2022 Cifuentes & Bertani (2022) synonymised Psalmopoeus intermedius Chamberlin, 1940 with this species.
- 2025 Peñaherrera-R. et al. (2025) reversed the 2022 synonymy of Psalmopoeus intermedius with this species, and described the Costa Rican material Cifuentes & Bertani had figured as P. reduncus as a separate species, P. drolshageni. The name P. reduncus is confirmed to apply to the Cordillera Central population.
