Etymology

The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality, Serra do Tepequem, in the State of Roraima, Brazil.

Holotype male of Guyruita tepequem, collected 14-29 December 2015, hand collected at night on humid tropical forest soil. The published coordinates are malformed - "3 4459'N, 61 4400'W", with the minute and second marks run together - and are read here as 3 44'59"N, 61 44'00"W, which falls on Serra do Tepequem.
