Etymology

The specific epithet is a masculine adjective derived from the combined names of the collaborating academic institutions and an organisation of the project in which this study is involved: the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Romblon State University (RSU), Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD) and the Philippine Arachnological Society, Inc. (PASI), with the Latin suffix -us.
