Etymology

The epithet is a matronym honouring Nadine Dupérré (Collections Manager, Zoologisches Museum, Universität Hamburg), our friend and colleague, in recognition of her numerous contributions to arachnology, especially on the taxonomy of spiders from Ecuador.

Taxonomic History

Transferred from Thrixopelma to Crypticarachne by Sherwood et al. (2025), which was erected for it alone. The genus name refers to how cryptic it is: "the cryptic spider".
