Etymology
a patronym for Elizabeth Bryant
Taxonomic History
- 1995 Rudloff (1995) published the name as C. bryanti, a lapsus calami — the species honours Elizabeth Bangs Bryant, so the epithet should be feminine. Peters (2003) and Schmidt (2003) both used bryantae; Abegg et al. (2016) argued the original spelling should be restored. Sherwood, Blick & Ballarin (2025) reject that restoration and maintain bryantae, on the grounds that the original authors were not Latinists and the name must be read as having been established in the singular.
