Etymology

The specific epithet is a matronym in honour of our friend and colleague Christine Rollard (Curator of Araneae, Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, Paris)

Taxonomic History

  1. Type species of Ewok by designation of Sherwood et al. (2025). The same paper sinks Thrixopelma zaratensis Kaderka & Quispe-Colca, 2025 into it: no differences could be found in the palpal bulb, palpal tibia or tibial apophyses. Since zaratensis was described from both sexes, the female of this species is now known, and its range is put at less than 100 km around Lima.
