The specific epithet is a patronym in honor of Dirk Weinmann, arachnologist and collector of the type specimens.

Holotype male and paratype female of Neischnocolus weinmanni. Pérez-Miles et al. (2008) place La Azulita in Apure state and give coordinates 7°16'18"N 71°56'25"W; La Azulita is in Mérida, and the coordinates stored here are the town's.
