Etymology

The specific name is a patronym in honor of Luis G. Pagano, Argentinean ornithologist who participated in the collection of this new species.

    Joel & Ferretti (2025) described the female for the first time, from a specimen taken close to the type locality to be sure of conspecificity. It is separated from congeners by a high number of labial and maxillary cuspules and by spermathecae with very short, non-spiralled ducts. The species had been known since 2014 only from two juvenile males, collected in the Yungas cloud forest of Salta and reared to adulthood in the laboratory.
