Etymology

The specific name is a noun in apposition, taken from the type locality: the Choquequirao Regional Conservation Area, a protected area in the Cusco region of south-central Peru that protects a variety of Andean ecosystems and includes the Choquequirao Archaeological Park, an Inca settlement from the fifteenth century.
