Collection months of 1 adult male specimen record, against the rainfall where they live
Mean monthly rainfall and temperature 2001–2020 near where these males were collected, Peru. MERRA-2 via NASA POWER, for a grid cell averaging 96 m. Wet and dry seasons, from the rainfall at the locality itself.
Etymology
Thrix (Gr): hair, bristle; Pelma (Gr): Sole of foot - Ockerti = Named after the collector Roland Ockert
Specimen Records (3)
Syntype female exuvia of Thrixopelma ockerti; not examined in this work. Schmidt (1994) based the species on exuviae without precise locality information.
Syntype female exuvia of Thrixopelma ockerti, accompanied by two slides holding the dissected exuvial spermathecae of the syntypes; not examined in this work.
Three males of Thrixopelma ockerti, confiscated from the illegal pet trade and used for the first redescription of the male, including the first analysis of the palpal bulb keels. No collector recorded. Note: Fig. 1C-D of the paper labels this specimen "holotype male", but the text treats it as a non-type — T. ockerti was described from two female exuviae and no holotype was ever designated.
