Etymology
A noun in apposition referring to Meghalaya, the Indian state the species was collected in.

Taxonomic History
- 2026 Selenocosmia meghalayensis Sanap, Kadam, Thackeray & Rajkumar, 2026
- The third Selenocosmia from India and the only one founded on females. The other two are known from males alone and from very different ground: S. sutherlandi from Kalimpong in the Eastern Himalayas at 1,017 m and S. kulluensis from Kullu in the Western Himalayas at 1,230 m, while this species comes from the northeastern hills at 231 to 741 m.
- The species authority is four of the paper's five authors: Satam is a co-author of the paper but not of the name.
