- 2004 Nhandu chromatus Schmidt, 2004
- 2023 Bertani (2023) transferred this species to Vitalius. Sherwood et al. (2026) find that transfer rests on an incomplete reading and restore it to Nhandu, its original genus, for taxonomic stability. The holotype male is redescribed and the female described from physical IBSP specimens.
- Two curatorial problems surfaced. Schmidt (2004) figured the spermathecae from a pet-trade female exuvia (SMF 63579-84), not the name-bearing specimen — fortunately, so no nomenclatural harm was done. And a non-type male of Acanthoscurria geniculata sits in the SMF labelled as the holotype of this species (SMF 39181-84). Since it is not in fact the holotype, no synonymy follows; the authors read it as a symptom of the unreliable data accompanying Schmidt's museum depositions. It may also explain his title, "Der Doppelgänger von Acanthoscurria geniculata heisst Nhandu chromatus sp. n." — he apparently thought his second specimen was the look-alike.
- One of the newly reported IBSP females has a contorted receptacle but is otherwise normal.
