Taxonomic History
- 2001 Reversopelma petersi Schmidt, 2001
- 2025 Peñaherrera-R. et al. (2025) examined the type material and emended the diagnosis of Reversopelma. Schmidt (2001) had diagnosed the genus partly on females bearing urticating setae Type I and males Type III — the reversal the generic name alludes to. That is erroneous: males carry Type I setae just as females do. The genus is now placed in Theraphosini and holds two species.
