Abstract

The genus Reversopelma Schmidt, 2001 is revised and diagnosed based on examination of the type material of its type species, R. petersi Schmidt, 2001, and a new species, Reversopelma spinometatarsi sp. nov., from Ecuador. The new species from Ecuador provides further knowledge on the male palpal bulb and spermathecal morphology of Reversopelma, supporting the delimitation of a new genus: Vitriemboli gen. nov. (type species Vitriemboli diaguita sp. nov.), easily distinguished from Reversopelma by the presence of urticating setae types III and IV. The Bolivian species Reversopelma herzogi Gabriel, Sherwood & Pérez-Miles, 2023 is transferred to Vitriemboli (Vitriemboli herzogi comb. nov.) based on urticating setae and male palpal bulb morphology. A second new genus, Colombiarachne gen. nov. (type species Colombiarachne dianae sp. nov.), discovered separately, is described from Colombia.
