Taxonomic History
- 1923 Pterinopelma dubium Mello-Leitão, 1923 Borges, Abegg, Paladini & Bertani (2025) removed Pamphobeteus holophaeus Mello-Leitão, 1923 from synonymy with Eupalaestrus spinosissimus, transferred it to Vitalius as V. holophaeus comb. nov., and made it a junior synonym of this species. Their reasoning: the type locality of holophaeus is Piracicaba, São Paulo, where V. dubius is very common, and its phytophysiognomy and topography are quite unlike the mountainous areas where Arboriticus occurs.
