Abstract
This paper includes a key for the recognition of families, genera and species of spiders of the infraorder Mygalomorphae found in Uruguay. The presence of four species is reported for the first time for the country. Additionally we give brief biological information about the families present in Uruguay. The key covers ten theraphosid species: Catumiri uruguayense, Acanthoscurria suina, Eupalaestrus campestratus, E. weijenberghi, Plesiopelma longisternale, Homoeomma uruguayense, Grammostola andreleetzi, G. burzaquensis, G. iheringi and G. mollicoma. Material examined was held in the arachnological collection of the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural y Antropologia, Montevideo, current to June 2009; Grammostola species not represented in national collections were excluded.
