Males differ from those of A. sinapophysis in a shorter embolus, a more extensive prolateral superior keel — restricted to the apical region in A. sinapophysis — and the presence of prolateral inferior and prolateral accessory keels, which that species lacks.

Urticating setae. The species carries only type I setae and lacks the basic type I entirely at every stage. Juveniles of both sexes and adult females have subtype Ie; the single ontogenetic change is at the juvenile-to-adult transition in males, where the setae switch from Ie to Ib. Length and angle barely change through development.

Natural history. Found near houses, closely associated with human-built structures. Juveniles make shallow burrows under plastic sheeting, logs or rocks; females and some young males dig burrows 10–30 cm deep, sometimes widening into small chambers. No silk was seen lining any entrance or wall. Several individuals were often found under one structure, but in captivity they are cannibalistic. Juveniles and males are shy and release urticating setae readily when disturbed; adult females are markedly defensive, displaying their chelicerae and sometimes exuding a drop of venom. Juveniles of both sexes resemble adult females in colour, while adult males turn dark brown.

Known only from the type locality at Puerto Coca, Tiquisio, Bolívar.
